Career counselling in government Schools at Rs one !!!!

The students studying in class IX of any government school need not worry about choosing any profession after class XII as the school Education department would soon benefit them with ‘Vivekanand  Career Counseling' at just Rupees One.  

Till Now, the benefit of ‘Vivekanand career counseling’ was given only to the students of Class XI and Class XII but now the students from Class IX onwards would be counseled for their future aims and ambitions.

Within the counseling the students would be guided in different dimensions including the selection of profession after Class XII, the educational qualification they can hold for the profession and the tips to choose the best suited profession as per an individual’s potential.

Besides this, the school education department would also provide the facility of Internet and library in the schools for which every student has to pay a sum of rupees one per month. It is with the help of this amount that the internet facility and library would be maintained.

The District Education Officer (DEO) CM Upadhyay said that,” Vivekanand career counseling would be given to the students of Class IX onwards which would help them for choosing a profession of their own desire. This will help the students to clarify their doubts with respect to any profession. For this they will be charged only a sum of rupees one per month and this will be utilized for the maintenance of internet and library. We would soon forward the applications to the schools for providing the benefit of career counseling from class IX onwards.”

It is to be noted that a career counseling cell would be formed at the school level wherein the teachers would provide the counseling to the students. Besides this Nodal officers would also be appointed for monitoring the whole process. 

The principal of Government Subhash Utkrishta Vidyalaya, Rajesh Tiwari said that,” this is a very positive step by the school education department to grant career counseling from Class IX onwards and this is going to benefit the students for sure. Providing career counseling since class IX would make up the mind of the students to choose the profession of their own and by the time they complete their class XII they would be able to proceed further with confidence. Through the medium of counseling the students would be able to clear the doubts prevailing in their mind about any profession.”       

weekend at 'Sair-sapata'

If you are bored and planning a weekend then plan to go to ‘Sair- Sapata’, an entertainment zone cum tourist spot developed by Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation at Prempura, Bhadbhada, Van Vihar road. 

‘Sair- Sapata’ has been constructed at a cost of rupees 10.37 Crores and is widespread in an area of 24.56 acres of land and is beautifully developed with different exhibits for the visitors.

At the entry is the suspension pedestrian bridge on Prempura Ghat’, which is the most attractive point constructed with an expense of Rupees four crores. While crossing the bridge, the visitors are able to experience the flowing water beneath the bridge. It is built by using RCC deck slabs and is 183.20 meters long and 3.6 meter wide. 

Besides this, another main attraction is Children toy train called ‘Vatika Express’ that runs on a .75 km track including six bogies with a capacity of 25 people at a time. While taking a ride in the train the passengers experience the beauty of the spot.

The train ride gives the passengers an overall view of the entertainment zone. It also involves musical fountain, glass viewpoint giving a scenic view of the lake, food zone and restaurant with delicious and mouth watering menu, boat club & children’s play area with many slides and swings, natural trail and pathway, lighting, landscaping, ticket plaza and entry gate.

Anil Kuroop, Manager Boat club said that,” the visitors are coming everyday to ‘Sair-Sapata’ and after the first day of its inauguration we were surprised to see people visiting in large number because  ‘Navratri’ is going on so we did not expected much people visiting the spot but since day one the spot has attracted many people and they are enjoying a lot here. Altogether, ‘Sair-sapata’ has become popular amongst the people within a very short time.”     

The entertainment zone opens at 11.00 am in the morning and closes at 10 PM. The entry fee for above 12 years is Rupees 20 while the entry fee for the age group in between 5-12 years is Rupees 10.

Besides this the visitors are able to enjoy the boating for half an hour carrying four persons at a time with Rupees 60 as boating fees. 

‘Sair Sapata’ was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the first day of ‘Navratri’ as a gift for the Bhopalites and large number of people are visiting the spot and it has become the favorite time pass destination for people in the city.  

Rahul, a visitor said that,” me and my friends are enjoying a lot and it is very peaceful destination. If one wants to hang out then ‘Sair- Sapata’ is the best spot to come along with friends. One can plan the weekend and refresh the mind. The food court is well built with mouth watering menu and we all are enjoying a lot.”    

Ashok Vishwakarma, a visitor said that,” Sair- Sapata is extremely beautiful and it’s a very unique concept. The spot has added to the beauty of the city and is attracting many people. The beauty of the spot is worth watching. While taking a train ride, we are able to take a view of different spots in the entertainment zone.”

Deep, a six year old child who was on a visit to the spot with his parents said that,” I am very happy to visit the place and I am enjoying a lot. I will visit the spot again and especially the toy train attracted me. The ride in the toy train was very interesting and the slides and the swings are very beautiful and I will tell all my friends about the place.”

65th Independence day celebration in city schools

Independence Day is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm all over the country and with respect to this many cultural programmes are being organized to mark the occasion.  

The occasion of Independence Day is a moment of pride and glory for the country. With respect to this, various schools in the city organized various programmes paying a tribute to our great freedom fighters.       

No academic work was done on Independence Day, but all the students and staff members were present in their respective educational institutions, to celebrate the day. 

The students were dressed in beautiful attires and gave dance performances on various patriotic songs. The programme was followed by a parade wherein the march past was lead by the house captains.    

A sort of social gathering was arranged in the different educational institutions, and sweets were distributed to the students on the occasion. Flag hoisting ceremony took place within their respective premises. 

As the flag is hoisted by the head of the institution, students sang national anthem and pay respect to their flag and to uphold the sovereignty of the country.

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT SHARDA VIDYA MANDIR SCHOOL:

The 64th Independence Day was celebrated at Sharda Vidya Mandir with enthusiasm and national fervor. 

The Programme began with the hoisting of our Tricolor by the Directors   Savithri Natrajan,  Vinay Agrawal and Principal Mrs. Shefali Gautam.

Cultural programmes flavored with patriotism charged the entire atmosphere. Speaking on the occasion Director Natarajan urged the students to safeguard the country against the cancer called “corruption”. 

The programme came to an end with distribution of sweets among the children. Beautiful dance performance was given by the student which was praised by everyone.

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT ANKUR HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL:


Independence Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm in Ankur Higher Secondary school. The programme commenced with the flag Hoisting ceremony by the Principal of the school, Vishakha Sharma followed by National Anthem sung by the students. 


Thereafter, March past was performed by the students lead by the head boy of the school Arjun Singh. The students also performed Mass PT exercises and the programme concluded with the distribution of sweets to the students.

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT SHREE BHAVANS BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL:


Shree Bhavans Bharti Public School celebrated the independence in a very simple manner. The flag hoisting ceremony was performed by the vice principal of the school Madhubala Chouhan. The teacher’s staff and students were present on the occasion.  


National anthem was sung by the students and the teacher’s staff accompanied them. The vice principal of the school Madhubala Chouhan gave a short speech wherein she said that,” youth are the future of the country and they play an important role in the development of the country and upliftment of the society.” 

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT MODEL HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL:

The Independence Day at Model Higher secondary school was celebrated with many cultural programmes. The programme commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony by the principal of the school ML Dubey and Vice Principal SK Reniwal followed by the National Anthem. The students performed March past under the leadership of Rose Mary, Nirajkant Sharma and RD Verma thereby leading the navy, army and air force wings. 

Dance performances were given by the students on different patriotic songs. 

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL:

The principal of the school, Rashmi Malik hoisted the tri color at the school premises and the teacher’s staff and the students sang the national Anthem.

Addressing the students Rashmi Malik said that,” the future of the country depends upon the young generation and the present generation must be sensible enough to understand their responsibilities towards their country.”

The students gave dance performance which was praised by everyone. The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets amongst the students. 

Is India truly shining?

Pressing their little faces on tinted car windows with repeated attempts of selling the tri color, the scene which gets common at traffic signals prior to Independence Day does not only narrate plight of these young boys and girls but also counters the laud claim of governments in not leaving any stone unturned to implement the Right to Education (RTE).

Attribute it to fate or acceptance of their families, who prefers training their minors to earn over getting educated; it could well be taken as surprise that these young sellers are not even aware of the significance of occasion for which they are selling the national flags on traffic signals.

Idea of going to school or even discussing it is a waste of time for these young kids trying hard of approaching maximum possible vehicles in changing signals.

Critically, scene at busy Board Office Square could also be taken as a mark on the face of shining India where a seven year old boy Sonu was spotted carrying a bunch of Indian flags and was pleading the vehicle borne to buy at least one.

He was seen pleading,” ek to le lo kamai ho jayegi” (Please take at least one, I will be able to earn a bit)

For Sonu, Independence Day is no more than an occasion and an opportunity where he can have sales and earn a bit for his family members. 

Sonu said,” I do not go to school but I earn for my family members on such occasions. A pair of flags costs rupees 20 and by the end of the day I am able to earn 40-50 rupees only to fill the stomach at a time.”

On asking whether he knows about the significance of the tri color he was selling and the Independence Day he nodded his head and saw with puzzled eyes. Soon he got engaged with his work and wanted not to disturb him during his working hours.  

Similarly, A 10 year old boy Raghu too was busy in selling the Indian Flags at Roshanpura Square and he had other decorative items too for sale. 

Unfortunately Raghu was not able to start his day’s business as he could not get buyers who would purchase the tri color and he would be able to earn a little to fill his stomach. 

Unaware of the importance of going to school both Raghu and Sonu are more concerned towards earning for their families. Whether willingly or unwillingly children like Sonu and Raghu are engaged in earning for their livings. Many children are spotted selling things on such occasions and for them the occasions are only a means to earn their livings.  

District Education Officer (DEO) CM Upadhyay said that,” the government has given the provision of granting free and compulsory education to the children from 6-14 years but awareness is also required on part of their family members. For instance if I see a child begging at the traffic signal I ask him to come along with me for admission in the school and other facilities concerning his education but the parents actually do not agree. It is very hard to convince them and they do not send their child for granting admission in school. So this is the factor that restricts the child from going to school. The government is trying its best to encourage the education amongst the poor children but the parents too will have to cooperate as the step initiated by the government is in the favor of such children.”  

Are you sending your ward to a real convent?

Every parent has a desire that their child should study in a school that is not only academically sound but a school that makes the child disciplined. With this intention, the parents want that their child should be a convent educated.

This desire has become such a necessity that the parents are ready to pay heavy fees no matter whether they can afford it or not provided the school is convent. Not only this, but, parents also put their child especially a girl in convent school as she would be tagged a convent educated girl influenced by the fact that the matrimonial ask for a 'convent educated girl'.

Some of the local schools are taking undue advantage of this and term their school as convent. But in real sense these schools are not convent. There are many schools in the city named as ‘convent’ but the fact is that such schools do not fulfill the criteria to be a convent school as the schools themselves do not know the true meaning of ‘convent’. 

Besides the fact that there are certain norms for establishing a Convent school yet large number of convent schools are functioning in the city that are not as per the set standards.

For establishing a convent school, it is required that the school should be associated with the Catholic Church and the nuns should be appointed as the teachers. But on the name of Convent there are many schools that are not as per the prescribed norms. The convent schools are much disciplinary and consist of better educational facilities as compared to other schools and therefore parents admit their wards influenced with the name of convent but after the admission the reality is far different.

Father Anand Mutungal, regional PRO and spokesperson said that,” I do agree that large numbers of convent schools are functioning but it is up to the parents to choose the better school for their wards. If the school fulfills the criteria of being a convent school then parents can admit their children in that school.” 

It is to be noted that there is no committee formed for acting against the illegal convent schools and therefore everyday a new convent school is added to the list.

Mutungal said that,” taking action against the illegal convent schools depends upon the school education department. But I feel that the convent school is mainly a brand for us as it is being recognized as the best educational service.

Especially the upper class of the society wants to put their wards in convent school as these schools provide better facilities at lesser costs.”

On the condition of anonymity some of the parents said that though they have admitted their children in a convent school thinking that the school would provide good academic background and disciplined behavior to their child but after the admission of their children there is a feeling of distrust amongst the parents towards the school management of one of the so called convent schools. 

Sister Reji, principal, Carmel Convent School said that,” the school with the name convent which are not actually convent are only meant for misguiding people and it completely depends upon the parents to put their child in the right convent. We never thought of reacting against these schools as the parents should themselves understand what is better for their child.”

 Dolls are the perfect means for a child’s entertainment and so are the dolls museums where people from all ages can visit. Such is the spot in Bhopal called ‘Aakar gudiya Ghar’ at Jail road which is the perfect place not only for the entertainment of children but also for the adults where they can aware themselves with the customs and traditions of different states.

‘Aakar Gudiya Ghar’ is the museum where the visitors get to know the cultural background of different states at one place.  The dolls put on display are beautifully dressed representing the traditions of various states.

Every museum has its own unique characteristic while ‘Aakar gudiya Ghar’ is best known for the fact that the dolls put on display are being made by the women criminals. The women criminal at karond jail prepare the dolls which are then sent in the museum for display as well as for sale.

These women criminals are first being imparted training in the making of doll and then the dolls made by them are kept for sale.    

The museum displays a huge collection of almost 200 dolls each having a unique representation of the state.

The dolls displayed in the museum are dressed up in the traditional costumes of the country or the area to which they belong.

The museum is divided into two parts whereby in one segment of the museum are the dolls exhibited from different states while the other segment is meant for the dolls kept for sale.

The dolls are being sold in the fair that is organized every year in Dusshera Maidan at New Market whereby the members of ‘Aakar Gudiya Ghar’ book a stall to keep the dolls for sale.

 Since the dolls are displayed in their traditional attire, with conventional costumes, jewelry they tend to represent the true culture of the respective countries or areas.

The main motive of starting the museum was to grant employment to the women prisoners so that when they complete their punishment period they become independent and choose the right path for their future. It was started mainly to encourage women criminals to lead their life positively. 

Presently the women are granted a certain amount for the dolls made by them which is directly being deposited in their accounts and the amount deposited in their accounts is given to them when they complete their punishment period. The museum was inaugurated in the year 1996 by Narendra Prasad, former DG.

Farida, care taker of the museum said that,” ever since the museum has been established it has been the center of attraction for the visitors here and especially small kids are more interested in visiting here.  The museum remains open on all days from 10.30 am to 5 pm and especially on Sunday the museum remains crowded.”

The dolls in ‘Aakar Gudiya Ghar’ are made with utmost perfection by the women criminals to display the tradition and customs of different states.

Radha Gupta, another care taker of the doll museum said that, “The museum is established especially to encourage women criminals to become independent so that when they are set free from the jail they have the source to earn their livings. Many women criminals have now adopted a positive attitude towards life and this has given them a feeling of satisfaction to pursue positive attitude towards life.”

The museum also displays ancient utensils that were used in houses for cooking food. The place is not only meant for children but also for the adults where they get to know background of every state through the attire of dolls. 

The visitors enjoy being in the museum as they get to know the art, dance, clothes, culture and tradition of different states.  

Tough task ahead of Private schools

The private schools in the district are going to face a tough task while trying to get them recognized by District Education Office (DEO) as Block Education Officers (BEOs) will be visiting all the private schools to inspect the facilities available with them.

The BEO will first ensure during the inspection, that the schools meet the required parameters and have the said infrastructure in order to be able to provide quality education to the children studying there.

For this, the private schools will have to login to the education portal from where they can update the necessary details like availability of the staff, number of students studying in the school, infrastructure and others.

These details would be updated over the education portal and then the hard copy of it would be sent to the Block Education officer (BEO).

Once they start receiving the details sent by the schools they would then start the inspection work. The report of the inspection would be submitted to the District Education Officer (DEO).   

If the DEO is satisfied that the set criteria’s are fulfilled by the school then the recognition would be granted to them. Whole process would take place online. In case if the schools do not fulfill the criteria’s and their recognition is being cancelled then also the schools would be informed online.

The process of connecting the schools with the education portal has started from April 25 and till July 25 the schools have been given the deadline to get connected with the education portal.

 Here after, the Block Education officer’s (BEO) would start visiting the schools and then submit a report to the District Education Officer (DEO).      

Prior to this, the schools were granted recognition on the basis of the applications sent by the schools to the authorities but now with the enhancement in the technologies whole process has changed and now recognition would be given online.

The District Education Officer, CM Upadhyay said that,” the private schools would be granted online recognition. For this the schools will have to get connected with the education portal whereby they will have to mention all the necessary details for acquiring recognition. The Block Education Officer’s (BEO) have been given the responsibility of inspecting the private schools and check whether the schools fulfill the necessary criteria or not. The report would be submitted to me and on the basis of that, recognition would be given. If a school does not fulfill the necessary criteria’s then recognition would be cancelled.”
